Aarau Cantonal Hospital
The Aarau Cantonal Hospital (KSA) is dedicated to preserving, promoting, and restoring the health of the population through expertise, research, and innovation. The KSA is one of Switzerland’s leading hospitals and, with its more than 50 clinics, treatment centers, and diagnostic institutes, covers a large part of the Aargau healthcare network. With approximately 5,000 employees, the KSA offers a range of medical services that extends from primary care to highly specialized medicine. In addition, the KSA is strongly committed to research and teaching—including in nursing—and thus contributes to the continuous advancement of medicine.
Cantonal Hospital Baden
Baden Cantonal Hospital (KSB) is the central healthcare provider for East Aargau and, with its modern healthcare campus, a "hospital of the future". It has received several awards as the best employer in the Swiss healthcare sector and the most innovative hospital in Switzerland. KSB maintains many partnerships with start-ups, companies, hospitals and institutions. ETH Zurich has been based at KSB since 2018 and will establish several research groups with direct proximity to patients in Baden. The KSB supports ETH Zurich's Bachelor in Human Medicine and hosts ETH's digital Trial Intervention Platform (dTip) on campus.
City of Baden
With Baden 4.0, the Business Contact Point 2023 has made a pioneering start to the innovative development of the Baden region in the key sectors. The Health Innovation Hub Aargau is part of the main Baden 4.0 program. Examples such as the establishment of Varian in the medtech sector thanks to ABB's imaging research serve the high-tech hub as inspiration for further successful settlements. Varian develops highly specialized devices for radiation therapy in oncology in Baden, which are used in Aargau's cantonal hospitals, for example.
Canton of Aargau
The initiative is supported by Standortförderung Aargau. Its aim is to further strengthen the canton's economy and promote innovation. Aargau is one of the economically strongest cantons in Switzerland and occupies an attractive position in the life sciences industries. The sector is broad-based and has grown strongly, with many specialized companies. There is a clear focus on promoting innovation. The canton is characterized by good conditions for start-ups and SMEs as well as personal and uncomplicated support.
